Holographic vs Reflex Sights

Holographic sights (EOTECH 558, AMG UH1 Gen2) project a laser-etched reticle pattern — typically a circle-dot — giving a wider sight picture than a standard red dot. The larger housing and viewing window make them popular for CQB and fast-moving targets.

Reflex sights use a simpler LED projection. They're lighter, more compact, and work well across all engagement ranges. The T-2 Red Dot Reflex ($115) is a versatile rifle option.

Both types mount on Picatinny rails and are compatible with flip-to-side magnifiers for instant zoom capability.

Frequently Asked Questions — Gel Blaster Sights

What is the difference between a holographic sight and a red dot?

A red dot projects a simple dot via LED. A holographic sight uses a laser-etched reticle (usually a circle-dot pattern) with a wider field of view. For gel blasters at 20–35m engagement range, both work well. Holographic sights cost more but offer a superior sight picture for fast CQB play.

Can I pair a sight with a magnifier?

Yes — a 3x flip-to-side magnifier mounts behind any Picatinny-mounted sight, giving you instant zoom capability. The EOTECH G43 3X ($155) and SIG JULIET3-Micro ($149) are our top picks.
